Live camera analysis does not create a continuous cloud video library.
Clear answers.
No guesswork.
Understand cameras, the connector, privacy, app availability and community reporting before you start.
Confirmed incidents may retain one short evidence clip. Retention can be reduced to 1 day where appropriate; legal holds are handled separately.
Check the context before taking action. AI status is decision support, not a finding of guilt.
Product
What does SENTRL AI do?+
SENTRL AI analyses compatible camera activity for fly-tipping, creates an incident with useful context and helps authorised people review and respond. It supports decisions; it does not decide that someone has committed an offence.
Who is it for?+
Councils, property managers, estates, businesses and other organisations responsible for shared locations. A pilot checks the cameras, connectivity, permissions and response process before a wider deployment.
What is suspected versus confirmed fly-tipping?+
A suspected event means a possible sequence is being checked. The system looks for evidence over time, such as waste being left and remaining after a person or vehicle departs. Confirmed is an AI workflow status, not a legal finding. A person must still review the evidence.
Does every person, car or bag trigger an alert?+
No. Those objects provide scene context. Their presence alone is not enough to confirm fly-tipping. Timing, movement and the full sequence matter, and unclear scenes may still produce false alerts or missed events.
How do notifications work?+
Suspected events use in-app or device push notifications, without email or phone escalation. Confirmed events can use the escalation channels configured for the deployment and verified contacts. Opening a supported incident notification takes you to its incident.
Can I review evidence and download a report?+
Authorised users can open incident context, available snapshots and short evidence clips, and use the supported report and export tools. Evidence can be delayed while a clip uploads or finishes processing. Access and available actions depend on your role.
Cameras & connector
Can I use existing cameras?+
Often, yes. A compatible IP camera, CCTV stream or reachable remote stream must pass a video and connectivity check. Compatibility depends on the stream, network, credentials and camera capability. SENTRL is an intelligence layer, not a replacement for every camera system.
What is the SENTRL Edge Connector?+
The SENTRL Edge Connector is the connection layer between compatible cameras and your account. The dedicated edge device is in development, designed for an on-site connection managed through the app. Supported connector software is offered through an agreed pilot setup. Contact SENTRL to assess your location.
Do I need to keep the dashboard open?+
The connector operates independently of the Live View screen. Keep the deployed connector powered and connected, and keep the camera reachable. Check camera, connector and monitoring status in your account; closing Live View does not switch monitoring off.
Must my phone be on the camera network?+
You can use the web app from another location. The connector still needs a working route to the camera, and remote access depends on deployment connectivity. Adding cameras from your phone does not remove those network requirements.
How do I add a camera?+
Once access is arranged, choose Add Camera in your account and select the camera type. Where a connector is needed, SENTRL agrees the supported setup for your location. Authorise it through the secure SENTRL approval page, then return to the app, verify playable video and name the camera. QR/code pairing remains a support fallback.
What happens if power or internet goes down?+
A disconnected camera or stopped service cannot provide dependable live monitoring. Cloud alerts, uploads and access depend on connectivity. Check offline status and restore the connection; do not assume every event was captured during an outage.
Privacy
Does zero storage mean no data is ever kept?+
It means there is no continuous cloud video archive. Accounts, device details and incident records still exist, and confirmed incidents can retain short evidence for a defined period. Community reports are a separate optional submission with their own privacy and retention rules.
Does it identify people using facial recognition?+
The fly-tipping workflow does not use facial identity matching. Person and vehicle detection can describe an incident without deciding who someone is. Camera footage and incident evidence can still contain personal information and need restricted access.
Who decides whether a camera deployment is lawful?+
The organisation operating the cameras must establish its purpose, lawful basis, notices, access rules and retention. SENTRL provides the technical service under the agreed deployment documents. A DPIA and additional safeguards may be required; a website privacy statement alone is not deployment authorisation.
Availability
Where can I use or download SENTRL?+
Book a demo to explore the product with the SENTRL team. Join the waiting list for launch and pilot availability updates. The availability page shows verified releases when they are published; app access is arranged separately with SENTRL.
How can I get access to SENTRL?+
Start with a guided demo. The team will discuss your needs, camera compatibility and the current availability of supported access. Joining the waiting list registers your interest; it does not automatically create an account or guarantee a pilot place.
How much does it cost?+
Public packages are coming soon. Pilot scope depends on camera coverage, monitored zones, connectivity and support needs. Contact us for an assessment; no subscription is charged by the enquiry form.
What happens when I join the waiting list?+
We register your interest and send a confirmation to the email you provide. You agree to receive SENTRL launch and pilot availability updates. You can leave through the confirmation email. Joining does not charge you, create an app account or guarantee a release date.
Is my demo booked immediately?+
The form sends a demo request to our team. We email you to agree a time. Your preferred day or time is confirmed only when the team agrees the appointment with you. A demo request does not enrol you in waiting-list updates.
Community reporting
Can I report a location outside the UK?+
Yes. Community location reporting works worldwide. Search an address or place with its city and country, choose a matching result and confirm the pin on the worldwide 3D map. You can also use your current device location when you are there. Coordinates remain an optional alternative. No postcode is required. Availability of camera pilots and local deployment requirements is assessed separately.
How do I report waste from somewhere else?+
Enter the waste address or a nearby place, with its city and country, and press Find location. Choose the matching result; the map moves there. Check the pin and drag it to the waste if needed, then confirm the location. You can also tap the map or place a pin at its centre. If you already have coordinates or a supported full map-pin link, use the optional section below the map. Check the pin before continuing. Short share links need the coordinates instead; pasted links are read locally and never opened by SENTRL.
What if the address search gives the wrong place?+
Include the city and country and choose the matching result. A town or street result may cover a broad area, so check the pin before confirming. If no address is found, use your current location, tap the waste on the map or use the optional coordinates. Map data may be incomplete or out of date; a search match is not proof of the exact waste location.
Does searching an address send my report?+
No. The search text is sent to the Photon address lookup service when you press Find location or Enter. Do not enter names or contact details. Your report goes to SENTRL only after you review it and press Submit report privately. Precise locations, labels, notes and attachments stay off the public hotspot map.
How do I explore the hotspot map?+
Open Hotspots and the worldwide map loads automatically. Use World view to return to the globe, Day or Night to change its appearance, 3D to switch the angled view, and the zoom controls to explore. Buildings appear in 3D at close zoom where data is available. Broad areas appear only after genuine reviewed reports meet the publication threshold.
Do I need an account to report dumped waste?+
No. The community form asks for an observation and location, without a name, email address or account. Cloudflare still processes technical network information to deliver and protect the service. Do not include identifying information in text or evidence.
Will a report go to a local authority?+
A SENTRL community submission goes to SENTRL for private review and helps us understand recurring locations. For cleanup or investigation, contact the waste or environmental authority responsible for that place separately. We do not automatically forward submissions or claim an authority partnership unless one has been agreed.
Can I upload a photo or video of someone dumping?+
Use footage focused on the waste and location, from a safe and lawful position. Cover complete people, readable number plates, addresses and other identifying details before submission. The preparation tool applies solid covers; it does not automatically detect faces. Video audio is removed. Evidence is private and never shown on the hotspot map.
When does a location appear on the map?+
Only reviewed reports contribute. An approximate 5 km area needs at least three approved reports on three different observation days, and reports have a 24-hour publication delay. Counts are shown in bands over a 90-day window. The map does not publish precise pins, text, names or attachments.
Does a hotspot prove an area has the most fly-tipping?+
No. It shows the volume of reviewed community observations, which depends on how many people report and which places they can see. Reports may refer to the same waste, and a blank area does not mean no dumping happens there. It is not an official crime or local-authority performance map.
Can I delete a report?+
Yes. Save the private removal key shown after submission and use it with the report reference on the reporting page. We do not email the key or associate the report with an account. Without the key we may be unable to verify ownership; contact support about privacy or harmful content concerns.
How long are community submissions kept?+
Private attachments expire after 30 days. Reports and location data expire after 90 days. Reviewers remove inappropriate content earlier. Aggregate map data refreshes within five minutes after a report is removed. This is separate from customer camera incident retention.
What if there is an immediate danger?+
Do not confront anyone, enter private land, touch unknown waste or put yourself at risk to film. Contact your local emergency services for immediate danger. For cleanup or investigation, contact the waste or environmental authority responsible for the location. SENTRL does not provide an emergency or cleanup service.
